How It All Began

I never planned on working in the pool industry. My original goal was to become a mechanic.I was in school for auto mechanics, learning how to fix cars and engines. But life has a way of leading you down unexpected paths.I never planned on working in the pool industry. At the time, I was searching for a job to support myself while in school. A friend of mine knew I needed work and kept pushing me to apply for a seasonal lifeguard position. I had zero interest in being a lifeguard, but I was open to anything that could help pay the bills. So, I went to the interview, expecting to be offered a typical summer job.
But things took a turn. Instead of hiring me as a lifeguard, they offered me a Lifeguard Supervisor position in the aquatics department. I wasn’t just overseeing lifeguards—I was introduced to the behind-the-scenes world of pool operations. I started learning about filtration systems, water chemistry, pump mechanics, and all the moving parts that keep pools running.
At first, it was just a job. But as time went on, I found myself fascinated by how everything worked. The more I learned, the more I enjoyed it. Before I knew it, I had developed a real passion for aquatics.
That passion eventually inspired me to start my own business. When it came time to choose a name, I wanted something that reflected my journey. That’s how Aqua Addicts was born—a play on the word aquatics, but also a nod to how much I had grown to love and "be addicted" to the industry.
Today, Aqua Addicts Pool Services is a company built on experience, dedication, and a genuine love for keeping pools clean, safe, and beautiful. We proudly serve Laurel, Maryland, and the surrounding areas, offering expert maintenance and repair services.
Looking back, I never would have guessed that taking that job interview would change my life. But that one decision led me to a career I love and a business I’m proud of—helping people enjoy their pools as much as I enjoy working on them.
